1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using QuantForge.org (the “Site”), including accessing our documentation, using the “Playground,” or downloading our software (PineTS, QFChart), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by these terms, please do not use this Site.

2. No Financial Advice & High-Risk Warning

This is the most important section. Please read carefully.

  • Educational Purpose Only: The tools, libraries, and content provided on QuantForge.org are for educational, research, and development purposes only.
  • No Advice: QuantForge is not a financial advisor, broker, or registered investment analyst. Nothing on this Site constitutes financial, investment, or trading advice.
  • Software Risks: You acknowledge that algorithmic trading software (including PineTS) involves significant risks. Software bugs, calculation errors, data feed latency, or discrepancies between backtesting and live execution can result in substantial financial loss.
  • User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for any trading decisions you make and any algorithms you deploy. QuantForge assumes no liability for losses incurred as a result of using our software.

3. Non-Affiliation Disclaimer

QuantForge is an independent open-source organization.

  • We are not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with TradingView, Inc., or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates.
  • Pine Script™ is a trademark of TradingView, Inc. Usage of the term on this website is for descriptive and compatibility references only.

4. Open Source Licensing vs. Website Usage

  • The Software: The underlying source code for our projects (e.g., PineTS, QFChart) is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0) (or other licenses as specified in their respective GitHub repositories). Your use, modification, and distribution of the source code are governed by those specific licenses.
  • The Website: The content, layout, design, graphics, and branding of the QuantForge.org website are the intellectual property of QuantForge and are protected by copyright laws. You may not mirror, scrape, or copy the website design without permission.

5. Use of the “Playground”

If you use our interactive coding playground:

  • Prohibited Use: You agree not to use the playground for crypto-mining, malicious attacks (DDoS), or hosting illegal content.
  • Resource Limits: We reserve the right to throttle or block IP addresses that place excessive load on our compilation servers or API endpoints.
  • No Guarantee of Persistence: The Playground is a demo environment. We do not guarantee that scripts saved or shared via the Playground will be stored permanently. Always back up your code to your local machine or GitHub.

6. User-Generated Content

If you submit code, comments, or content to the Site (e.g., sharing a public link to a strategy):

  • You retain ownership of your intellectual property.
  • However, by making a script “Public” or generating a shareable link, you grant QuantForge a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and execute that content for the purpose of providing the service.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall QuantForge, its maintainers, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, procurement of substitute goods or services; loss of use, data, or profits; or business interruption) however caused and on any theory of liability, whether in contract, strict liability, or tort (including negligence or otherwise) arising in any way out of the use of this Site or our software, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

8. Third-Party Links and Data

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., GitHub, Reddit) or fetch data from third-party APIs for demonstration purposes. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

9. Changes to This Agreement

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Your continued use of the Site after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify the community of significant changes via our GitHub or Reddit channels.
